Description: The Claude McCarthy Fellowship supports a graduate of a New Zealand university, who is currently enrolled in a PhD, to undertake “original work or research in literature, science or medicine”. The fellowship supports travel overseas for short periods to present research at conferences, and/or conduct research.

Eligibility:
To be eligible to apply for a Claude McCarthy Fellowship applicants must:
l be a graduate of a New Zealand university.
l be registered for a doctoral degree at a New Zealand university.
l have been registered for their doctoral degree for at least one year at the closing date for applications.
If an applicant has previously held a Claude McCarthy Fellowship this does not preclude them from submitting another application however the selection committee will take the earlier fellowship into consideration when making their funding decisions.
