Description: Offered by the Directorate General for Higher Education (DGES), these bursaries are meant to help those in financial difficulty who also keep excellent grades. This program is advantageous for international undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral students admitted at well known Portuguese schools. Financial restrictions should not impede smart individuals from getting excellent education in Portugal, and the awards help to address this.SASNOVA is responsible for awarding scholarships and emergency aid (direct social support) from the Directorate General for Higher Education (DGES) to 1st and 2nd Cycle NOVA students, which aim to make it possible for economically disadvantaged students to complete and continue their studies.
Eligibility:
- Be, or will be, enrolled and registered at Universidade Nova de Lisboa in the academic year for which they are requesting the scholarship;
- In addition to Portuguese citizens, the following may also apply for a grant:
– Citizens who are nationals of Member States of the European Union with the right to a permanent residence in Portugal, and their families;
– Third country nationals:
i) Holders of a permanent residence permit;
ii) Beneficiaries of long-term resident status;
iii) Coming from States with cooperation agreements providing for the application of such benefits;
iv) Coming from States whose law, on equal terms, grants equal treatment to Portuguese students;
– Stateless people;
– Beneficiaries of political refugee status.
- Have obtained academic success in the last academic year attended in higher education establishments, in accordance with the Regulation for the Allocation of Scholarships to Higher Education Students ( Dispatch No. 7253/2024, 2nd series, of July 3 )
- Not having a higher education course or equivalent to the one they are applying for;
- The household’s income is insufficient to support the student’s studies, in accordance with the Regulation in force.
