2026 Excellence Scholarship Program for Graduate Studies in Research at the University of Sherbrooke, Canada

Scholarship value:

• Université de Sherbrooke Excellence in Research Scholarship:

o $17,000 per year for a maximum of two (2) years at the master’s level;

o $20,000 per year for a maximum of three (3) years at the doctoral level.

• Laurent and Claire B. Beaudoin Excellence Scholarship:

o $25,000 per year for a maximum of two (2) years at the master’s level;

o $35,000 per year for a maximum of three (3) years at the doctoral level.

Description: The Université de Sherbrooke Excellence Scholarship Program for Graduate Research Studies aims to financially support high-achieving students wishing to acquire research training at the master’s or doctoral level, in the disciplines of engineering and natural sciences, humanities and social sciences, and health sciences.

The creation of a dedicated fund for this program makes it possible to offer two types of excellence scholarships: the Université de Sherbrooke Excellence Scholarships in Research and the Laurent and Claire B. Beaudoin Excellence Scholarships.

Eligibility:

  • The student must be duly registered in an eligible master’s or doctoral program

for a maximum of three semesters, i.e., they must be registered in

semester S1, S2, or S3;

  • The student is admitted to an eligible master’s or doctoral program and

plans to register for the following semester;

  • hold a first –  cycle university degree;
  • be domiciled in Quebec;
  • not hold a scholarship from an external organization (e.g., NSERC, SSHRC, IRSC, FRQ, etc.) for a value or duration equal to or greater than the expected duration of the institutional scholarship;
  • be registered full-time in a graduate research program at the University of Sherbrooke and devote the majority of their time to research or research training activities.
  • the student must have obtained an average grade higher than 3.0/4.3 (B) or equivalent in the program used as the basis for admission to the master’s or doctoral program for which they are applying for a scholarship, unless the achievements presented in their application are considered exceptional by the members of the selection committee.
