- Allowances: DESY Summer Students will be paid an allowance to cover living expenses for a single person.
- Students will receive subsistence allowance 28,50 Euro per calendar day.

Description:
Each summer DESY offers undergraduate students in physics or related disciplines (such as scientific computing and engineering) the opportunity to obtain first-hand research experience at a large international laboratory. Students are invited for an 7.5 week training period to experience research in one of the various fields pursued at DESY:
Photon science,Accelerators,Elementary particle physics ,Astroparticle physics.
Selected candidates will join in the day-to-day work of research groups at the DESY laboratory in Hamburg or Zeuthen (close to Berlin).
Eligibility:
- Applicants should have completed at least three years of full-time studies at university level in physics, related natural science disciplines or computing by the summer of 2026. Please be aware that the large majority of projects we offer are for physics students!
- The main target audiences are students who are at the following two stages by summer 2026:
- – They are about to obtain their Bachelor’s degree.
- – They hold a Bachelor’s degree and are enrolled in a Master’s programme.
- Applicants who already obtained a Master’s degree or will have obtained it by summer 2026 cannot be accepted.
- Applicants should not have previously been at DESY as a summer student.
- Please take note that due to regulations for paid internships in Germany, we can only accept students who are enrolled at their university for the whole period of the Summer Student Programme.
