  • Monthly allowance (about €1,400 for a maximum of 24 months)

Description: Applications are open for the 2026 International Master of Science in Fire Safety Engineering (IMFSE) at the University of Edinburgh. IMFSE is a highly regarded international master’s programme offered by a consortium of leading European universities and cofunded by the European Union (EU). The programme provides advanced scientific and technical training in fire safety engineering through on-campus education.

By providing you with a world-leading educational experience with advanced knowledge, skills and competences, the IMFSE programme shapes the next generation of fire safety engineering experts capable of tackling the global fire safety challenges in the built environment and beyond.

This masters programme is jointly offered by the following four full partner universities:

  • University of Edinburgh, UK
  • Ghent University, Belgium (coordinator)
  • Lund University, Sweden
  • Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Spain

Additionally, there are four associated partners where you can perform thesis research:

  • The University of Queensland, Australia
  • ETH Zurich, Switzerland
  • The University of Maryland, United States of America
  • The University of Science and Technology of China, China

Eligibility:

  • Hold or be in the final year of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in:Engineering, material sciences, chemistry, physics, architecture, urbanism, or related fields
  • Candidates must exhibit excellent academic achievement
  • Applicants must possess the necessary English language skills (IELTS/TOEFL or equivalent, as required by partner universities)
  • Candidates must meet the nationality and eligibility requirements for Erasmus Mundus.
