Description:
The DAAD In-Region/In-Country Scholarship Program, funded by the German government, is designed to support postgraduate students at partner universities across Africa. This initiative aims to enhance capacity building, academic networking, and research collaboration on the continent. Scholarship recipients benefit from high-quality education while addressing key development challenges through their studies and research.

Eligibility:

  • Must be a citizen of a sub-Saharan African country;
  • Be enrolled or eligible for admission at a DAAD partner university in Africa;
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree (for Master’s applicants) or Master’s degree (for Doctoral applicants) in a relevant field;
  • Demonstrate excellent academic performance and research potential;
  • Commit to contributing to development efforts in their home country after graduation.

How to apply:

  1. Check the list of DAAD partner universities offering In-Region/In-Country scholarships in your desired field.
  2. Apply for admission to the selected university program.
  3. Once admitted, submit a scholarship application through the DAAD portal:
    • Include academic transcripts, certificates, a motivation letter, a research proposal (for Doctoral candidates), and two academic references.
    • Provide a signed DAAD application form available on their portal.
  4. Submit applications before the program-specific deadline.
