Scholarship value:
- $37,746 (2026) per annum tax-free for full-time students, paid in fortnightly instalments(up to 3.5 years).
- $18,873 (2026) per annum, taxable, for part-time students, paid in fortnightly instalments.
Description: The Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend Scholarship provides a living allowance for high-quality research higher degree students. They are awarded on academic merit and research experience and/or potential.As part of the scholarship, Domestic candidates also receive a tuition fee off-set. International candidates receive coverage of their tuition fees, and Overseas Health Cover.
The scholarship duration is three years and six months full-time for a doctoral degree or two years for a Research Masters degree. The duration of an RTP stipend scholarship cannot be extended.
Eligibility:
To be eligible for a RTP Stipend Scholarship:
- Must be a domestic student accepted into an accredited HDR course of study at an Australian HEP, OR
- Must be a International student accepted into an accredited HDR course of study at an Australian HEP.
- Must not be receiving an equivalent award or scholarship from the Commonwealth designed to offset HDR tuition fees.
